The story of Dammann teas dates back to 1692, when the French King Louis XIV granted Francois Dammann the privilege of selling tea in France. Mr. Dammann was not only known for his tea monopoly, he was also one of the most traveled men of the time. Thanks to his travels to India, China, Korea, Vietnam, Japan, and Sri Lanka, he brought the most exclusive teas to France, which he then mixed with flowers, dried fruits, spices, or other natural ingredients.

His descendants continued the tradition and in 1925 the brothers Robert and Pierre Dammann founded the Dammann Freres store.
