Tea talks.
Did you know?
Tea grows best in the tropical regions of the countries between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn: Mexico, Bahamas, Niger, Algeria, Mauritania, Egypt, Libya, Mali, Western Sahara, Myanmar, Oman, Bangladesh, India, Saudi Arabia, China, United Arab Emirates, United States and Taiwan.
Tea grows best at altitudes of 305 to 2134 meters above sea level. Once we become the tropics, we will be able to grow tea on the slopes of Ďumbiera (2043 m). This is, of course, a humorous remark, but tea is indeed a serious matter. Anyway, this is not exclusively an Asian issue, for example in Europe, tea does best in many places. They started growing tea at the end of the 19th century in Georgia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and the Azores. These Portuguese islands were the first in 1874, with a little help from a Chinese tea expert from Macao. At the beginning of the 20th century, there were 14 tea gardens in the north of the island of São Miguel. Today, only two remain - about 40 hectares in total.
However, large countries such as India, China or Indonesia still remain the world's main production areas. According to origin, it is divided into:
ASSAM (INDIA) - strong, dark color with a specific character.
DARJEELING (INDIA) - Darjeeling is not as strong as Assam. Quality teas from Darjeeling are the result of the humid climate and soil.
NILGIRI (INDIA) - tea is harvested all year round, has a soft and fresh taste.
CHINA - a large number of types of tea are collected in 18 production areas. The range of Chinese teas includes green teas, oolongs, black teas.
SRI LANKA (Ceylon) - The best teas are obtained during the dry months (January, February). Teas from Ceylon have a wonderful taste, color and aroma.
INDONESIA - In Java, colorful, tasty and fragrant teas are grown, in Sumatra they mostly have a metallic taste and lower quality.
JAPAN - produces green and black teas. Collected teas are exclusively consumed at home, because Japan preserves the tradition of drinking tea to this day.
AFRICA - The main producers of tea are Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi. In Kenya, teas are grown that have a distinct taste and color (similar to teas from Assam), in Tanzania and Malawi the tea is of lower quality.
SOUTH AMERICA - the most important countries in tea cultivation are Brazil and Argentina. Most South American teas have a neutral character and light color shades.
